More WA FIFO couples seeking out fertility treatment | The West Australian
8th Feb 2025

Fly-in fly-out workers are fast-becoming one of the largest patient groups at West Australian fertility clinics, as demanding swings cause couples to miss their chance at conceiving naturally.
Adora Fertility doctor Maha Ragunath said FIFO families struggling to fall pregnant was a WA-specific issue — due to mining jobs being so prominent in the State.
“The thing I see particularly in WA is the fact that partners live apart because of FIFO and that has caused a great deal in terms of people not being able to have a child when they want to,” she said.
