About Dr Maha Ragunath

Dr Maha Ragunath graduated from Madras Medical College in India, a college in the top 100 medical schools around the world. Following her graduation she trained in the UK, and obtained her specialist certification from the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynaecology which included training in subfertility, assisted conception and laparoscopic surgery. She then went onto complete a postgraduate Master’s degree in Reproduction and Foetal Development from Bristol University. She was conferred with a Fellowship from the College (FRCOG) in 2010.

Maha worked in the UK for over 30 years, 27 of those as a Fertility Specialist and Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecology. With a patient centred approach, Dr Maha has a wide range of experience in all aspects of subfertility treatment. This includes the investigation and treatment of recurrent implantation failure, genetic screening, use of donated eggs and sperm, egg vitrification and the treatment of LGBTIQA+ patients. She was the Medical Director of CARE fertility in Nottingham, one of the UK's largest private IVF clinics and under her leadership, CARE fertility reached the top 10 clinics in the UK for clinical pregnancy rates in women under 35 years.

Having held a concurrent post as a Gynaecologist at Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham University hospitals she is proficient in managing all general gynaecological disorders, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, endometriosis, PCOS and fibroid uterus. She is also an accredited Colposcopist. Skilled in all types of fertility treatment options, Maha has a special interest in the management of recurrent treatment failure, poor ovarian reserve, PCOS and male infertility. Above all, putting patients’ interests first and supporting them through a difficult time, is what matters most to her. Maha is also actively involved with teaching and training both in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has held the role of Editor of the subfertility section of the STratOG for over 8 years. She is also an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at SJOG Midland where she is the audit lead and helps with the training and teaching of both medical students and registrars.

Since moving to Perth in 2019 to be with family, she has been granted the FRANZCOG, and is on the Specialist Register. In her spare time, she loves gardening, watercolour and oil painting, music and singing.
