I am looking to switch clinics
Switching clinics is a safe and common practice and may be a positive and necessary step to give you the best chance of growing your family. It doesn’t matter whether you are just starting treatment or are mid-treatment with eggs, sperm or embryos stored, switching clinics is still possible. At Adora Fertility, we are here to assist you with the process which is outlined below.

What is the process for switching clinics?
For IVF and Egg Freeze Patients
- Request a copy of your medical records from your current fertility clinic. This includes any preliminary test results and a copy of your cycle history. Adora Fertility can accept test results if they have been performed within the last 12 months, otherwise new tests must be arranged.
- Arrange a GP referral addressed to Adora Fertility which includes full name, DOB and BMI for female patients. A referral is required for each person having treatment (including partners if applicable).
- Once your medical records and GP referral is received, you will then be able to proceed with booking an appointment with the Fertility Specialist of your choice.
For Donor Patients
- Request copies of both your medical records and your donor’s medical records from your current fertility clinic. This includes any preliminary test results, a copy of your cycle history and any additional files such as counselling reports. Adora Fertility can accept test results if they have been performed within the last 12 months, otherwise new tests must be arranged. Please note that all donors must give approval to transfer their eggs or sperm (or embryos created from their eggs or sperm) between clinics. If you are wanting to transfer de-identified donor sperm vials or embryos created with a de-identified sperm donor, your current clinic must approve the transfer before proceeding.
- Once your medical records are received, they will be reviewed by our donor team as any gametes created using a donor will need to meet the legislative requirements for transfer. The donor team will be able to advise if we can accept the transfer and if so whether you need to attend a GP appointment for any further testing or can proceed straight to a Fertility Specialist appointment.
- Arrange a GP referral addressed to Adora Fertility which includes full name, DOB and BMI for female patients. A referral is required for each person having treatment (including partners if applicable).
Is it safe to transport eggs, sperm and embryos between clinics?
Yes it is very safe. Eggs, sperm and embryos are safely transported between clinics on a regular basis. Scientists use a specially designed transport canister to ensure all eggs, sperm and embryos are protected and maintained at appropriate liquid nitrogen temperature. You can be assured that their welfare will be in the very capable hands of a specialised medical transport company whilst they are travelling between clinics.
What is the cost to switch clinics?
This will depend on a number of factors. There will likely be a charge to have your medical records released from your current clinic. If you are transporting eggs, sperm or embryos then there will be a courier fee for the specialised transport required to transfer safely.
