A Day in the Life of a Fertility Nurse
Nurse Jordan from Adora Fertility Brisbane takes us through a day in the life of a fertility nurse at Adora.

Fertility treatment is a journey; one filled with questions, highs and lows, and countless moments in between where compassionate care makes all the difference. At Adora Fertility, our nurses play a central role in guiding you through every step of your cycle.
To give you an inside look, Jordan, IVF Nurse Unit Manager at Adora Fertility Brisbane, walks us through what a typical day looks like for a Fertility Nurse.
Conducting Nurse Chats
Once you receive a treatment plan from your Fertility Specialist, you’ll be scheduled for a nurse chat- a dedicated phone appointment to prepare you for the journey. You will also receive a link to a video that contains further information about your cycle.
During this call, a nurse will:
- Explain the treatment or cycle protocol
- Go through medications and how to use them
- Check all pre-cycle requirements
- Answer any questions and ensure you feel confident moving forward

Responding to patients via phone and email
Whether you are mid-cycle or preparing to begin treatment, nurses will walk you through every step of the journey with:
- Clarity on instructions
- Guidance around symptoms
- Reassurance during moments of uncertainty
Sending Cycle Instructions
Every treatment cycle requires careful coordination. Once your specialist has reviewed your results from monitoring blood tests and scans, the nursing team will prepare and send tailored cycle instructions including medication instructions, upcoming appointment and procedure times, and any other important information.

Follicle tracking scans
Throughout IVF treatment, patients may come into the clinic for follicle tracking scans, performed by Adora’s sonographers or nurses.
During these scans, a nurse or sonographerwill:
- Measure and count follicles in the ovaries
- Assess the thickness of the uterine lining
This information helps the specialist adjust care as needed and determine the optimal timing for procedures such as egg collection.
Assisting with Embryo Transfers
Embryo transfer day is a significant moment in any fertility journey. During the procedure, nurses assist the specialist by performing abdominal scanning to help guide the transfer.
Afterwards, they provide:
- Post-transfer instructions
- Advice on what to expect over the next few days
- Reassurance and support as you head into the two-week wait

Pregnancy Test Results
Approximately 11 days after an embryo transfer, you will return for a blood test. Once the results are in, the nursing team makes one of the most anticipated calls of all; sharing the outcome.
As Jordan says, “Sharing good news is one of the highlights of our job.” No matter the result, nurses provide compassionate guidance and next steps, supporting you through whatever comes next.
On the front line of patient care
A day in the life of a fertility nurse is a blend of clinical expertise, emotional support, and constant communication. From the very first call to the final result, they walk alongside patients through some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
At Adora Fertility, this dedication is at the heart of everything we do - ensuring every patient feels heard, supported, and empowered throughout their fertility journey.
